Social Comics evolved from a few scrap pieces of lined paper and the needs of one of our clients.

To our surprise, we found that making short comic strips about her struggles where she was the main character- a superhero- who has the power to handle those struggles, really helped her a lot. It was as if she could off-load her problems, and some of her anxiety, onto the fictional version of herself.

Matt (support worker) would scribble fun, light-hearted characters dealing with some pretty serious problems, and Scott (Behavioral Consultant) guided the storytelling based on his expertise and training. Together they created a resource informed by positive support strategies, that lives somewhere between textbook-style workbooks and off-the-shelf superhero comic books- Social Comics bridges the gap, and aims to provide useful and informative, yet super fun support comics.
